On August 17th-19th the United States sent a talented group of schoolboys to Chile to the Pan Am Championships.  DTA's Gabriel Taboa was selected to represent his country at 42kg in this international competition.

Greco would be the first style contested during the tournament.  Though Gabriel was ready for any challenge that stepped his way, his opponents weren't.  Both of his opponents failed to make weight, leaving Gabriel as the lone man on top of the podium.  It is a great accomplishment to win a Pan-American gold medal, but Taboa was still very hungry.

When the freestyle competition rolled around, Gabriel made sure to make the most of his international experience.  He began the day against Jeremy Peralta of Ecuador.  This very one-sided match would end with Taboa earning a 12-2 victory.

His second match of the day would be against Santiago Sepulveda of Chile.  Before Gabriel had a chance to defeat another international opponent, Sepulveda would medically withdraw.  This left only one more opponent between Gabriel and another gold medal.  That opponent would be Marlon Godinez of Guatemala.  Taboa made short work of his opponent, pinning him in just one minute and 22 seconds.

Gabriel Taboa represented himself, DTA, and his country very well coming home undefeated, with Pan-American gold medals in both freestyle and greco.
