Day two of wrestling action featured both cadet and junior freestyle matches. DTA had four athletes in competition today.
Kase Mauger wrestled a tough opponent from Oklahoma, Carter Young. Young would emerge as the victor 10-0. Next, Mauger would face Alex Almedya of New Jersey. Almedya was seeded second entering the tournament. Kase ended his all American hopes with a 10-6 victory. His final match would be a 13-2 loss to Ohio's Kyle Rowan. Kase will wrestle tomorrow at 1:30 for seventh place.
DTA's first competitor in the Junior division at 113 lbs was Destin Summers. Destin would find himself in a battle against Ohio's Logan Agin. With a narrow lead, he was able to control his position on the mat and secure a 10-8 victory. Next, he would face Benyamin Kamali of Michigan. Kamali would defeat him 10-0. His final match was against Florida's Ryan Rowland. Halfway through the match, Summers threw his opponent and secured the fall to earn his second victory. Destin will wrestle Aaron Howell tomorrow of Virginia.
Representing DTA and Idaho at 126 lbs was Braeden Dickinson. Braeden battled a tough Montana opponent, Trae Vasquez. After wrestling an aggressive first round, he trailed Vasquez 4-2. The match ended in favor of Vasquez 12-2. Dickinson then wrestled Mel Ortiz from Connecticut. He would end his tournament there with a 12-2 loss.
At 145 lbs, Zeke Williamson had a day full of battles. He opened the tournament with a tough opponent from Illinois, Jake Keating. Keating would emerge as the victor by a score of 10-0. In the second match, Zeke would overcome an early deficit with a series of consecutive leg laces to finish with a 14-4 win. His third opponent was Denen Fernandez of Arizona. After a back and forth battle, Zeke would fall just short of victory 10-8.
