DTA Hosts Team Idaho for Final Preparations before Nationals

On the 6th of July, Team Idaho arrived at the DTA gym to begin their final preparations for Cadet/Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota.  Here, the best athletes and coaches in Idaho will have a minimum of three practices per day over the course of six days.  

The team will be led by coaches Chris Owens and Ivan Delchev, and will feature a very talented group of athletes.  Here is a look at some of the accomplishments and accolades accumulated by team Idaho members:

  • 2 World Team Members
  • 11 All-American Honors Received
  • 8 Northwest Regional Freestyle Placers (2 Champions)
  • 7 Northwest Regional Greco Placers (5 Champions)
  • 10 West Regional Freestyle Placers (2 Champion)
  • 12 West Regional Greco Placers (4 Champions)
  • 27 High School State Titles

The camp will conclude on the evening of the 11th.  The team will then depart the next morning, heading to Fargo.  The national tournament will run from July 14th through the 22nd.  Each wrestler who places in the top eight will earn All-American status, with the first place wrestler being named the National Champion.  

Delchev Trained Academy will have several of their top athletes competing in Fargo.  Among competitors will be world team member, Kase Mauger, and All-Americans, Destin Summers, Braeden Dickinson, and Ezekial Williamson.  Jakob Murillo will also be competing with hopes of reaching All-American status this year.
